Minister Perez Reyes also announced the construction of 11 bridges on the Tambogrande-Morropon-Chulucanas route, with an investment exceeding S/600 million. The Minister of Transport and Communications, Raul Perez Reyes, informed that he is moving forward in the elaboration of the final study of the Canchaque-Huancabamba Highway. This project, which covers 71 km long, will be key to improving connectivity in the Piura region.
The study is expected to conclude in May 2026, allowing the execution of the work to begin within that year. The estimated investment amounts to S/575 million and will benefit about 100,000 inhabitants of the province of Huancabamba, promoting economic development, trade and access to basic services.
During an intergovernmental meeting with the Regional Government of Piura and mayors of Tambogrande, Canchaque, Castilla and Morropon, Minister Perez Reyes also announced the construction of 11 final bridges on the PE-1NR route, Tamographic-Morropon-Chulucanas section. With an investment of S/679 million, this work will benefit more than 850,000 people, ensuring a safer and more efficient road infrastructure. It is estimated that the works will begin in June 2025.
The governments commitment is to support and promote development in Piura. Therefore, we are working together with the governor and the mayors of the region to unlock and accelerate the main road and connectivity projects, said the minister.
Among other key ads, the MTC holder reported on the advances in the rehabilitation and improvement of 2.5 km from the landing floor of Piura airport, which currently has 78 % progress. The work contemplates a 35 cm thick concrete layer, guaranteeing its durability. It is expected to end in the second quarter of 2025. In addition, actions are being coordinated to implement night lighting and resume flights during the night.
Similarly, it was detailed that the expected preparation of Paita will begin to materialize, because last month the contract was signed to initiate the pre -investment study for the execution of the project. This study has a calendar 240 days elaboration period.
Another project underway is the definitive study of the Paimas - Ayabaca - Socchabamba road, which will have a length of 72 km and whose culmination is planned for October 2025.
In the province of Morropon, the execution of the Carrasquillo bridge has begun, which will be 554 meters long and will demand an investment of S/375 million.
Finally, Minister Perez Reyes informed that, in the provinces of Piura and Ayabaca, the selection process for the construction of six bridges in Sullana - Paimas (La Sucha, Forestry, Culqui, Santa Rosa, Quebrada Honda and Pedregal) has been convened, with an investment of S/165 million. The granting of the good Pro is expected in April 2025.
The regional governor of Piura, Luis Neyra, the Deputy Minister of Transportation, Ismael Sutta and the congressmen Miguel Ciccia, Heidy Juarez and Maricruz Zeta participated in the meeting, as well as MTC officials.
