📋 Tender Overview
A diversified source of energy will primarily benefit the population, in addition to contributing to reducing the carbon footprint. The Minister of Energy and Mines, Romulo Mucho, gave a specialized conference at the event Peru Sustainable Social Infrastructure & Clean Energy SUMMIT 2024, organized by Dorado Investments in Lima, with a presentation on the Perspectives of Renewable Energy in Peru.
Mucho referred to the progress in the transition of the national energy matrix, from 1996 to 2023, where there is a notable increase in electricity generation due to the incorporation of thermal sources through natural gas, and the appearance of wind and solar sources.
This 2024, there are 4 power plants that began operation, and we hope that 4 more projects will begin. These are initiatives that represent a contribution of 628 megawatts to the SEIN, benefiting 33 million Peruvians with an investment of US$ 701 million, he added, after highlighting that a diversified source of energy will mainly benefit users.
The head of the MINEM referred to the potential of our country for the generation of solar energy, which is very encouraging to call for new investments in the energy sector. The potential for solar generation in the jungle is more promising than the average in Germany, he said.
Regarding the wind potential, the minister said that we have 20 thousand kilowatts to generate, of which we are only taking advantage of 5 percent. Perus potential is spectacular, we are working on making maps of renewables. We have certain unmatched conditions, which others do not have worldwide.
Finally, Minister Romulo Mucho mentioned the importance of having a diversified source of energy, which mainly benefits the user. We promote renewable energies, which allow for increased competition in the activity of electric generation and promote new investments in generation projects, he said.
