📋 Tender Overview
In July 2023, the production of the Mining and Hydrocarbons sector grew by 11.38% compared to the same month of 2022, driven by the expansion of metal mining activity by 13.35%; this was announced by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in the technical report Short-term Progress of Economic Activity.
Contributing to this result were the higher production volume of molybdenum (24.7%), copper (18.1%) and zinc (8.6%), mainly; while the hydrocarbons subsector decreased by 1.64%, as a result of the lower level of exploitation of natural gas liquids (-13.8%) and crude oil (-7.2%); while natural gas production rose (26.0%).
Fish production decreased by 47.94%
The Fisheries sector contracted by 47.94% due to the lower extraction of species of maritime origin (-54.73%), reflected in the catch for indirect human consumption (landing of anchovy for fishmeal and fish oil), which amounted to 43 tonnes, and compared to 438 032 tonnes in July 2022, which shows a reduction of 437 989 tonnes.

On the contrary, fishing for direct human consumption showed a growth of 16.54% due to the greater extraction in the items destined to the preparation of canning (97.15%), frozen (22.03%) and for fresh consumption (10.74%).
In addition, fishing of continental origin contracted by 1.73% as a result of a lower catch of species for freezing and for the preparation of curing.
Electricity generation increased 3.76%
Through preliminary figures, in August of this year, electricity generation increased 3.76%, explained by the higher production of thermoelectric origin (17.9%) and renewable energies (5.5%). However, the hydroelectric ratio decreased (-14.6%).

Domestic cement consumption was reduced by 6.10%
During July 2023, domestic cement consumption decreased by 6.10% compared to July 2022, accumulating 11 months of unfavorable behavior due to the lower progress of private and self-construction works.
