📋 Tender Overview
To date, the National Superintendence of Migration, in coordination with the National Penitentiary Institute (INPE), has carried out the migration register of more than 600 foreigners held in prisons in Lima and the interior of the country, with a view to their full identification and the granting of suspended migratory status.
This measure, which is part of the security and internal order policy of the Ministry of the Interior, began for the first time in the women's prisons of Lima, continued in the men's prisons of Lima and Callao, and has now been extended to those located in the interior of the country.
Migration personnel, headed by the Director of Operations, Cynthia Otani, carried out this morning the biometric registration of foreign inmates held in the Penal Establishment of Cusco.
This registry includes the capture of fingerprints and the image of the face, which will be incorporated into the Registry of Migratory Information, which manages the entity, which will make it possible to verify the identity of the inmates, some of whom entered Peru without immigration control.
As a result of this work, Migrations will assign them the suspended migratory status, which is granted to foreigners who have been deprived of liberty for committing a criminal offense; and deliver to INPE the corresponding alien cards.
To date, 517 cards have been issued and are kept by prison directors until inmates have served their sentences.
