The event was attended by international exhibitors.The Technological Institute of Production (ITP), through the Directorate of Research, Development, Innovation and Technology Transfer (DIDITT), in collaboration with the company AP Bioprocess S.A.C, held the International Workshop Implementation of biotechnological processes in the productive sectors, held at the headquarters of CITEpesquero Callao.
This workshop, which was held for two days (August 12 and 13), had as its main objective to disseminate knowledge about bioprocesses and highlight their advantages for implementation in various productive sectors. In this way, professionals from the ITP CITE network were trained to contribute to the strengthening of their skills and knowledge to be applied in their respective sectors; also, the reuse of waste in industries such as leather-footwear, fishing-aquaculture, textile, agroindustry, among others, was addressed.
Participants from 14 CITEs nationwide received 7 theoretical sessions, which offered fundamental and advanced knowledge in bioprocesses and their application at an industrial level. Likewise, the theory learned was complemented with practical sessions held at the Biotechnology Laboratory - DIDITT, facilitated by national and international experts from Chile, who shared their experiences.
The international workshop included the participation of the executive director of ITP red CITE, Dr. Alberto Maurer Fossa, the director of DIDITT Eng. Carlos Salazar, the Principal Investigator of the Biotechnology Laboratory, Dr. Omar Pillaca (DIDITT) and the General Manager of AP Bioprocess S.A.C, Mg. Arturo Paredes. They were joined by foreign speakers, Dr. Alvaro Diaz Barrera, Dr. Stephanie Braun and Eng. Catalina Garrido.
Biotechnology Laboratory
The DIDITT of the ITP CITE network, with its mission to research, develop, train and transfer technologies for the development of the Production sector, has a modern Biotechnology Laboratory committed to practical application in the different productive sectors.
The main objective of the laboratory is the development of research, development and innovation management projects (R+D+i) in connection with the 42 CITEs nationwide. Its infrastructure is divided into 8 areas and its equipment allows for activities such as nucleic acid manipulation, genetic amplification and sequencing, isolation of microorganisms, as well as the development and optimization of microbial cultures.
