Historical documents, dating from the beginning of the 20th century, seek to be declared a cultural heritage of the Nation. An important finding. The team of the Archive Administration Body of the National Institute of Health of the Child (INSN) works on the implementation of a historical archive after finding an important documentation that has been dating for more than 100 years old because it reveals information before the creation of our National Reference Pediatric Center, the once Hospital del Nino, which this year celebrates 96 years of creation.
These are historical documents that are part of the first Book of Proceedings of the Commission responsible for formulating the projects for the location, building, installation and operation of a childrens hospital, in Lima, where the minutes of its installation stand out in 1923. The finding reveals that the need for a health center exclusively for children that protects and houses the underworld, which offers specialized care, in addition to covering the number of minors who could not be covered in other hospital of that time, were the reasons why the Childrens Hospital was erected.
In addition, in the historical archive found the name of Juana Alarco de Dammert appears, later called The grandmother of the children, who together with the collaboration of various public and private entities made the creation of the first hospital for children in Peru a reality on January 1, 1929, today currently the National Institute of Health of the Child.
The documents signed by the participants of this Technical Commission for the construction of this Institute indicate the land that will be acquired to build the then Nino Hospital.
