π Tender Overview
The Geological Mining and Metallurgical Institute Ingemmet as part of the program to update the National Geological Map at a scale of 150000 updated the geological mapping of four maps at a scale of 150000 corresponding to the Calangato quadrangle sheets 25r1 25r2 25r3 and 25r4 located in the Cordillera Oriental southeast of Peruvian territory in the regions of Cusco and Madre de Dios covering the hydrographic network of the Timpia and Yavero rivers. Geological bulletin No. 42 of the L series Geology of the Calangato Quadrangle presents units ranging from the Lower Paleozoic to the Quaternary. The study area has restricted access and the few roads are jealously guarded by the native communities For this reason the field work has only managed to cover 10 of the area of the quadrangle which has provided a good base to be able to interpret the rest of the quadrangle with satellite images complementing it with the field observation that was carried out at cross the watershed of the Yavero river Camino de Oso hill. Four geological maps corresponding to the Calangato Quadrangle have been updated sheets 25r1 25r2 25r3 25r4 at a scale of 1 50000 and a bulletin detailing that the Lower Paleozoic sequences are exposed in the southern part of the quadrangle sheets 25r2 and 25r3 showing tight folds while those of the Upper Paleozoic in the northern part sheets 25r1 and 25r4 with less intense folding than the previous ones. Likewise towards the west the sedimentary sequences present an orientation tending to east-west while towards the east the orientation is northwest-southeast. In addition the units are affected by west-east faulting and north-south structures are interpreted towards sheet 25r1 and no igneous bodies have been observed or interpreted nor have metallic occurrences. To update the geological mapping 204 geological observation points POG were carried out mainly in the San Jos Group 90 and the Sandia Formation 10 and 14 hand samples were collected. Through this study the modification of the polygons for the formational units established in the 1100000 base map was determined but the stratigraphic column was maintained Likewise the Tarma Group was interpreted overlying the Ambo Group in the southern part of sheets 25r1 25r4 and discordantly over the Cabanillas Group in the central and northern part of these sheets. In addition the Sandia Formation was recognized in the field and the tectonic interpretation of the 25r1 sheet determined favorable zones for the migration of hydrocarbons. It should be noted that the results indicate the continuity of the Lower Paleozoic in the neighboring sheets and the data obtained in the field allowed a better morpholithological interpretation of the satellite images for sheet 25r2.
