π Tender Overview
With the aim of continuing with the strengthening of environmental statistics and accounts, to support the formulation of mitigation and/or adaptation policies to climate change, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) received a mission of technical assistance from the Monetary Fund of the Monetary Fund International (IMF), which was in charge of reviewing the advances achieved.
The mission works took place at the INEI headquarters and developed from February 3 to 7, 2025 and was made up of Mrs. Lisbeth Rivas, a senior economist of the Division of the Royal Sector of the Department of Statistics of the IMF, and Mr. Alcino Gomes, expert in the environment and climate. In the final session, the participation of Mr. Massimo Bloch, Director of Swiss Economic Cooperation in Peru was attended.
It should be noted that the mission team worked with those in charge of compilating energy and emissions to the atmosphere, to evaluate the results and review advances for the publication of experimental energy accounts and atmospheric emissions initially for the 2019 to be published this year. Likewise, we worked on the practical training and the development of a work plan within the framework of the INEI support project.
It is important to highlight the work that has been done, taking into account the context of climate change that the planet and particularly our country lives. It is also consistent with the recommendations of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), in the context of the accession of our country to this international body, to develop energy accounts, and emissions accounts to the atmosphere.
The work sessions had the participation of National Accounts of the INEI and representatives of institutions, such as, Ministry of Environment (Minam), Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem), Central Reserve Bank (BCRP), Ministry of Development Agrarian and Irrigation (Midagri), Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC), National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology (Senamhi), National Forest and Wildlife Service (SERFOR) and the Supervisory Agency for Energy and Mining Investment (Osinergmin).
