π Tender Overview
The National Institute of Quality (Inacal), an agency attached to the Ministry of Production, accredited the first testing laboratory under the accreditation in flexible scope, being the laboratory of Intertek Testing Services Peru S.A., the first Conformity Assessment Body (OEC) to obtain accreditation in the environmental and food field, which will allow it to provide services in other additional or modified activities to immediately meet the demand of its products. clients (companies, public and private institutions, among others).
Flexible scope accreditation recognises technical competencies, so that an OEC under controlled conditions can change and modify the methodology or other required accreditation parameters; perform new test methods; certify new products; among others, that guarantee compliance with quality requirements and criteria to speed up evaluation processes, without having to request an extension of its accreditation scope from Inacal.
The OECs that will benefit from this new service modality are testing laboratories, clinical laboratories and product certification bodies. To this end, they must have effective access mechanisms to attend to new activities, have defined processes and procedures to validate and/or verify methods; and have the necessary logistics of appropriate facilities and equipment in place to perform flexible scope management.
In addition, for the implementation of accreditation under flexible scope, INACAL had the cooperation of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Global Quality and Standards Program (GQSP) and based on a comparative study of this practice in different countries of the world.
