π Tender Overview
Minams responsibilities include providing technical assistance for the development and updating of regional strategies. With the aim of strengthening the conservation of natural resources in the region, the Regional Government of Huanuco (Gorehco), through the Regional Management of Natural Resources and Environmental Management, led by Vilma Vilcas Melchor, announced the update of the Regional Strategy for Biological Diversity and its Action Plan.
This initiative will be developed in conjunction with the Ministry of the Environment (Minam) and strategic allies committed to the preservation of biodiversity. The measure responds to the new guidelines established in the National Strategy for Biological Diversity (ENDB) to 2050 and its 2030 action plan, approved by Supreme Decree No. 8-2024.
The ENDB, the main planning instrument for the management of biological diversity in Peru, establishes four strategic objectives: reduce the change in land use and aquatic environments, minimize the negative impacts of climate change on biodiversity, reduce pollution in ecosystems and strengthen the governance of biological diversity.
At a recent information meeting organized by Minam, Vilcas Melchor and his technical team participated in the presentation of priority actions to be implemented by regional governments. Minams responsibilities include providing technical assistance for the development and updating of regional strategies, formulating investment portfolios in biodiversity and developing Budget Program 144.
In addition, the holding of the First Convention of Regional Managers of Natural Resources and Environmental Management was announced, scheduled for April, where collaboration between regions will be promoted to face the challenges of conservation.
With the update of the Regional Strategy for Biological Diversity, Huanuco reaffirms its commitment to protect its natural resources, promoting sustainable development that benefits local communities and preserves the rich natural heritage of the department.
