📋 Tender Overview
The National Meteorology and Hydrology Service of Peru (Senamhi), an agency assigned to the Ministry of Environment, reports that the Huallaga River, in the Loreto region, has increased its water level due to the heavy rains recorded in the basin. Currently, the river flow has reached the red hydrological alert threshold, which represents a risk of overflows and floods in nearby areas.
This Thursday, February 20, the Yurimaguas Hydrological Station, administered by the Amazon Hydrography and Navigation Service, recorded a level of 134.55 meters above sea level. This increase has generated overflows in the Yurimaguas district, affecting homes and agricultural areas. Local authorities are evaluating damage and coordinating response measures to mitigate the impact on the population.
According to Meteorological Notice No. 056, moderate rains are expected in the northern jungle in the next few days, which could cause a greater increase in the river flow. As a consequence, there is the risk of erosion on the banks and new overflows in yurimaguas and surrounding areas.
Senamhi will continue to monitor the situation and provide updated information on the evolution of the Huallaga river flow. The population is recommended to remain informed, take precautions and avoid performing activities near the river.
