π Tender Overview
Through the application of precision agriculture technologies, the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) of the National Institute of Agricultural Innovation (INIA), has been carrying out phytosanitary control in seed fields of rice cultivation varieties INIA 508 Tinajones and INIA 515 La CapoteΓ±a, in the district of CamanΓ‘, Arequipa region.
The research work, which is being carried out through the Arequipa Agricultural Experimental Station (EEA Arequipa - INIA) through the PROSEM seed project, seeks to identify more accurately and quickly the presence of insects or vectors that generate pests and/or diseases that complicate the quality and yield of rice production.
To do this, specialists from the INIA-MIDAGRI Seed Production Unit use spectral cameras in unmanned aerial vehicles (T30 drones), which provide high-resolution images of the presence of any crop anomaly. In addition, they provide information on possible water stress situations.
With the information obtained, INIA-MIDAGRI will be able to develop and transfer technologies, methodologies and procedures for small and medium-sized producers in the region to optimize the use of inputs that allow them to preserve crop quality, reduce losses due to pests and improve the capacity of agricultural soil.
