The diagnosis indicates narrowing, vulnerable defenses for premature deterioration of the structure, being factors that increase the level of risk.The Provincial Municipality of Piura (MPP) presented the results of the Structural Evaluation and Diagnostic Evaluation Report to the Andres Avelino Caceres and Sanchez Cerro bridges, determining that the state of conservation of the Caceres bridge is bad, which implies the need for a joint intervention between various institutions.
The Manager of Territorial Development and Investment Management of the MPP, Gerardo Alvarado Machado, informed that the diagnosis indicates narrowing, vulnerable defenses for premature deterioration of the structure, being factors that increase the level of risk.
Although maintenance and improvements are carried out, the Caceres bridge will continue to present a high degree of vulnerability. A work articulated with the National Water Authority (ANA), the National Infrastructure Authority (ANIN) and other competent entities for a definitive solution, which implies the construction of a new bridge, said Alvarado Machado.
The official explained that the Caceres bridge, more than 30 years old, has support pillars within the Piura River channel, which exposes it to adverse conditions. The technical report was based on an analysis of 13 structural components, evaluating the substructure, superstructure, shoes, pillars, expansion joints and bridge board, among other critical elements.
On the other hand, the study determined that the Sanchez Cerro bridge is in good condition, although preventive maintenance is recommended to guarantee its long -term safety. Among the suggested actions are improvements on the board, rolling folder, railings and neoprene supports.
In addition, the Municipality has recommended that the permanence of traffic lights be evaluated in the Castilla part, since at peak hours they generate a large vehicular load on the bridges, affecting the transit flow.
The Provincial Municipality of Piura reaffirms its commitment to perform proper maintenance of the Caceres bridge while a comprehensive intervention is managed that guarantees the security of the population and the stability of the road infrastructure in the city.
