In Seville, Spain, the "IV Ibero-American Congress of Naval Engineering" has been taking place on whose second day of presentations, the General Commander of the Navy, Admiral Luis Polar Figari participated in the panel on the Navies of the future, challenges and vision 2050, commenting on the vision he has of the Peruvian Navy to this period.
During his participation he stressed that the greatest strengths are always to look to the future with a strategic vision, which allows to be prepared for technological changes and new national needs and interests, in order to effectively face the new threats and challenges of the XXI century.
He stressed that, with the new emerging threats, the challenge is even greater, so it seeks to have a versatile, modern and flexible force, with trained and trained personnel. Based on this, he emphasized that the Peruvian Navy has as a strategic vision to 2050, to be a multipurpose Navy, highly adaptable to the times, with technological independence, as well as; To be a reference in naval construction, to have a naval force with capacity for oceanic deployment and dissuasive for defense, with presence in the national territory, rivers and navigable lakes of our Amazon and Andean area, which allows to continue facing the new threats and challenges in a dual way.
He said that this process has already begun with the construction in the Industrial Services of the Navy of sixteen naval units: The Sailing Training Ship "Union"; two LPD units, B.A.P "Pisco" and B.A.P "Paita", the latter in its final phase in SIMA-Callao; six Maritime Patrol Boats, built at SIMA Chimbote; six Itinerant Social Action Platforms (PIAS), built at SIMA Iquitos; as well as the modernization process of four 209 submarines that has been developed in SIMA-Callao.
