π Tender Overview
Within the framework of the specific inter-institutional cooperation agreement between the Regional Government of Arequipa, the Geophysical Institute of Peru (IGP) and the National Institute of Civil Defense (INDECI), the installation of the Early Warning System (SAT) equipment in the event of earthquakes is being coordinated.
To this end, the manager of Disaster Risk Management and coordinator of the COER, Juan Carlos Burga, met with the executive president of the IGP, Hernando Tavera, at the headquarters of this institution located in the district of Sachaca.
The objective is the creation of the service for the generation of information, monitoring, alert, dissemination and communication for the early warning system for earthquakes. The works are more than 85% complete in the conditioning that is being carried out in the facilities of the Regional Government.
The SAT will generate an alarm signal that will be a warning to the population about the confirmation of the start of a seismic event, which will allow actions to be taken in a few seconds, which will help reduce the possibility of deaths and damage after an earthquake.
In this way, it seeks to decentralize the Early Warning System (SAT) that operates in the capital of the Republic. The goal is for all regions of the country to progressively have this system so that the population can be alerted seconds before the start of an earthquake.
