With high environmental standards and citizen participation. In 2024, SENACE granted environmental viability to 24 projects in the electricity and hydrocarbons sectors, for about US $ 1,000 million in sustainable investments. In this way, sustainable development with environmental protection and citizen participation is promoted, contributing to the countrys economic recovery.
In electricity 13 projects reached viability, (2 EIA -D detailed environmental impact study and 11 supportive technical reports - STIs), in the Arequipa, Huanuco, Ica, Junin, Lima, Loreto, Mother of God, Moquegua, Piura and Puno regions .
Meanwhile, in the hydrocarbons sector 11 projects were approved (1 modification of detailed environmental impact and 10 STIs), projects that will be carried out in the Callao, Cusco, Ica, Loreto, Piura and Ucayali regions.
Among the projects are the EIA-D of the Huamuco Hydroelectric Complex project (Huanuco) and the Transmission Line 138 KV Puerto Maldonado-Iberia (Mother of God); the meia-d of the project 3D seismic acquisition and drilling of an exploratory well in lot 31-C (UCayali), and the technical support report (STIs) for the relocation of 94 development wells in zone C of lot III , in Piura.
In both sectors, classification requests, EIA-D and PPC updates, among other environmental management instruments, were also approved.
In general, in 2024 SENACE approved 222 files that involve more than US $ 13,800 million in sustainable investments to contribute to the sustainable growth of the country, with high technical and environmental standards and including the participation of communities to generate social confidence in environmental evaluation.
About the senace
The National Environmental Certification Service for Sustainable Investments (SENACE) is a specialized technical public body, attached to the Ministry of Environment, which evaluates the environmental viability of the countrys large investment projects, with technical solidity and effective citizen participation.
