Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov met with Dai Daogo, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hunan Junxin Environmental Protection Co., Ltd. There, the progress of the project on the construction of a waste energy utilization plant in Almaty city was discussed. According to the investment agreement signed between the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and Hunan Junxin Environmental Protection Co., Ltd., an investment project worth 145 billion tenge was started in May of this year. Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hunan Junxin Environmental Protection Co., Ltd., Dai Daogo, informed that preparations are underway to start construction and installation works on the project. The enterprise, capable of processing up to 2 thousand tons of waste per day, can produce up to 60 MW of electricity, reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions to 200 thousand tons per year, and annually free up to 800 thousand cubic meters of landfill space. It is planned to create at least 700 jobs during the construction period and 120 permanent jobs after commissioning. Olzhas Bektenov noted that the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pays special attention to the formation of ecological responsibility and ecological culture. Environmental protection is established as one of the main principles of state policy and civil responsibility in the new Constitution. It was noted that the agreements reached at a high level create favorable conditions for the further development of trade and economic cooperation. At the same time, during the meeting, the prospects of expanding cooperation in the field of waste disposal by implementing such projects in other regions of Kazakhstan were discussed. As a result of the meeting, the Prime Minister ordered the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and other responsible state bodies to urgently study all aspects of cooperation with the company and prepare to sign an agreement on the construction of waste disposal plants in a number of large cities of Kazakhstan within a month.
