π Tender Overview
Minister of Infrastructure Kuldar Leis signed a regulation that the state is located in support of shipping companies that make their ships more environmentally friendly in Estonia. The budget for the support measure is EUR 25 million and the investments are made of CO2 quota money.
Demand for cleaner maritime transport is growing rapidly in the world. Estonian maritime industry companies have all the skills and experience to provide shipowners with world -class rebuilding services and contribute to making ships more environmentally friendly. It creates work for our industrial sector, increases tax revenue and economic growth.
According to the ministry, a measure of EUR 25 million will allow shipbuilding projects to be brought to Estonia worth up to EUR 170 million. The amount of the grant per project is a maximum of EUR 5 million and the share is between 15% and 30% depending on the investment and the ships connection with Estonia.
Support helps shipping companies to transfer their foundations for more environmentally friendly technologies, which means less emissions and cleaner air at sea and on the coast. Our companies can provide environmentally friendly and innovative solutions - from general contracting, design, local supply chain.
The measure supports the reconstruction of civilian travel and merchant ships and various port and auxiliary vessels (including tug). For example, support can be used to install hybrid engines on vessels, equipment operating on green fuels, exhaust collectors, shoreline solutions, as well as solutions that reduce the weight of the vessel and increase its efficiency. In summary, support can be used for innovations that help reduce pollution and make vessels more energy efficient.
Investments are made from the income from the permitted emissions of greenhouse gases.
