New decree simplifies access to community radio broadcasting in educational centers of the National Education System

The Executive Branch approved Decree No. 191/026, which simplifies the requirements so that educational institutions that make up the National Education System can access the community radio broadcasting service under the shared frequency modality.
Decree No. 191/026 reaches educational institutions at all levels of formal education that make up the National Education System and enables both the management of educational centers and teachers who have the endorsement of the institution to request a shared frequency.
In this way, the procedure is simplified so that educational centers can develop community radio broadcasting projects and spaces for communication, participation and content production are promoted from the educational communities themselves.
The measure seeks to facilitate access to community media and generate new opportunities for students, teachers and educational communities to participate in the production and dissemination of content of educational, social and cultural interest.
The initiative is part of the actions promoted by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM) and the National Directorate of Telecommunications and Audiovisual Communication Services (Dinatel) in particular to promote diversity and pluralism in the media, as well as the development of capacities for the national production of content and the participation of different social actors in the audiovisual communication ecosystem.
Who does it reach?
Decree No. 191/026 covers educational institutions at all levels of formal education that make up the National Education System.
Requests for access to a shared frequency may be made by:
The addresses of the educational centers.
Teachers of the institutions, as long as they have the corresponding endorsement from the educational center.
From MIEM-Dinatel we invite the educational centers of the National Education System to learn about this new possibility and to present projects that allow the development of community radio broadcasting spaces, to promote participation, communication and the production of content from the educational communities themselves.
