Netherlands State Designates Tender

The government has designated Arnhem East Railway Zone as the seventeenth and last of the national areas where many homes will be built in the coming decades.Thanks to this new so-called Novex status the municipality can claim more resources from The Hague to invest in a liveable environment better accessibility and a sustainable economy. In the first instance the central government will make 17 million euros available to build bicycle paths public transport interchanges and roads. As a result housing projects can be carried out more quickly.With the Novex status Arnhem is entering into a long-term partnership with the government to accelerate housing construction. Especially in this housing crisis in which many people are looking for a home it is important that we can accelerate the construction of homes with the support of the government. In Arnhem approximately 16000 additional homes will be needed until 2040. Part of it will be in Spoorzone Arnhem-Oost. Improve accessibilityBetter and new cycle paths public transport connections and roads are needed to keep new homes and businesses accessible. The central government will initially make more than 17 million euros available from the mobility fund to accelerate housing construction in the Arnhem East Railway Zone and Arnhem South Center. This contribution has been awarded to mobility projects such as hubs cycle paths and the improvement of stations.
