Safety in the Rolderstraat has increased. This is evident from an evaluation recently presented by the Municipal Marine to the Municipal Executive. Last year the area around Rolderstraat was designated a safety risk area. A series of measures were also taken at that time. Preventive searches were allowed for the possession of weapons. In addition camera surveillance was instituted and a grouping ban for young people and adults 4 or more people applied. The evaluation shows that residents businesses and visitors experience less nuisance.The measures came into effect in November last year. The cause was nuisance and forms of crime. There were also a few violent incidents in and around the Rolderstraat in which fire weapons were used. Flexible CamerasTo prevent nuisance from returning to the Rolderstraat the flexible cameras will remain in use until 1 November 2021. This has been jointly decided by the police the Public Prosecution Service and the municipality. In case of incidents the images are consulted afterwards. Watching the images live also remains possible but is not standard practice. After a year the cameras will be removed if based on information from police figures and the feeling of safety of residents and entrepreneurs there is no longer any reason for camera surveillance.Due to the outbreak of the corona virus it was quieter than usual in the Rolderstraat since March. The liveability of the Rolderstraat does deserve attention. Because many catering establishments have switched to delivery and collection due to the corona crisis residents experience more parking and noise pollution. Now that safety in the street has increased the area around Rolderstraat is no longer a safety risk area. RecommendationsIn order to ensure that the Rolderstraat remains a safe street a number of recommendations are made in the evaluation. These focus mainly on close cooperation between the police and supervision and enforcement of the municipality. In addition a plan has been drawn up for an integral check in the Rolderstraat. This check will be carried out by among other things construction and housing supervision of the municipality fire brigade police and the tax authorities.
