The provinces of Noord-Brabant and Gelderland make a risk assessment tool available to municipalities to combat subversive crime in business parks.This tool was developed by researchers from Centerdata and Avans Hogeschool and provides insight into the relative vulnerability of business parks to criminal undermining. Municipalities can use this tool as a prioritization tool and also gain insight into the specific characteristics that contribute to the vulnerability. Undermining is an invisible form of crime with far-reaching disruptive consequences for society. That is why it is so important that we make it more difficult for criminals for example with this new tool says Stijn Smearders Provincial Executive and Security of the Province of Noord-Brabant. With the risk assessment tool municipalities can therefore increase their resilience against subversive crime on their business parks. This will make Brabant safer again which will make this province more pleasant and enjoyable for as many people as possible to work live and visit.Data and machine learningPotential risk indicators have been identified through literature research expert meetings and interviews. To this end data has been collected from various independent sources. Using various machine learning models the researchers trained the risk assessment tool to map the relative vulnerability of business parks to subversive crime. In addition to the data tool a guideline for municipalities has been drawn up with tips and tools for municipalities with which they can get started with the approach to subversion on industrial estates. In addition Taskforce-RIEC Brabant-Zeeland has drawn up a Toolbox for industrial estates. It contains practical tools that can provide an in-depth look at the images from the risk assessment tool.
