π Tender Overview
What will mobility look like in a sustainable future and how will we realise that New approaches solutions and stories are needed to tackle the uncertainties of current and future innovations for example new transport concepts transforming public spaces and the innovations that are required for this. The aim of the call Mobility in a sustainable future KIC is to develop new future visions for sustainable mobility.AimThe aim of this call is to develop a new coherent entity of ideas opinions and understandings narratives about mobility as well as to develop innovative designs for mobility systems for people in the sustainable Netherlands of the future. What will mobility look like in that future How do we ensure that mobility is inclusive and accessible Which technological innovations are required to achieve this Broader conceptual frameworks are needed to realise this. It is expected that the call will be published at the end of December 2022.New approachesDealing with uncertainties in current and future innovations requires new narratives and approaches as equally the development and acceptance of reflexivity. This requires a broader perspective on mobility than simply a means for the effective transportation of people. This call is not about building further upon current technologies and trends but about creating new narratives and approaches and encouraging out-of-the-box innovation.Support of technologyNew visions on mobility should be supported by technological possibilities and innovations. What are the fundamental boundaries and what could be solved via technological innovations It is therefore important that research consortia choose as their starting point not only an integrated interdisciplinary approach but also a transdisciplinary approach. The intention is to actively involve various stakeholders through the interaction of socioeconomic and technological aspects. Public-private consortia that want to submit a proposal in this call are expected to have a broad and diverse composition and should be innovative in nature.Transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary collaborationWithin this call researchers are specifically invited to think outside of existing frameworks. They are requested to develop innovative activities and to put forward new concepts instead of building further upon current mobility trends such as electric cars self-driving vehicles and Mobility as a Service. Limiting the proposal to current impossibilities should also be avoided. The starting point for research consortia should not just consist of an integrated interdisciplinary approach but also of a transdisciplinary approach. This means that the scientific knowledge from various academic disciplines should be combined with practical knowledge and expertise from industry and civil society organisations. This encourages the development of a reflective attitude new approaches and innovative solutions.Researchers from the humanities natural sciences and social sciences as equally researchers from universities of applied sciences and other knowledge institutions are invited to work together with industry and civil society organisations to submit a joint project proposal for this call. NWO will make that possible by organising a matchmaking meeting after the publication of the call.
