π Tender Overview
In Roermond ProRail and contractor Van Gelder Rail are putting the finishing touches to renewing train protection. This happens from Saturday 16 to Sunday 24 November. This has consequences for train traffic to and from Roermond.Train security is perhaps the most important part of our rail infrastructure. The system detects trains and sets switches level crossings and signals in the correct position. When the system is renewed all cables pipes cabinets and signal posts are replaced. We do this before the end of the service life. In this way we prevent unnecessary disruptions and ensure that trains can continue to run safely from A to B.Roermond essay siteTogether with consultancy and engineering firm Movares Van Gelder Rail started renewing train protection in February. The working area runs from the N280 in the north to the Leropperweg in the south. Tens of kilometers of new cables and pipes have been laid within it. A new technical room has also been built and the cabinets along the track have been renewed. The button turnsThe new protection can only be put into operation once the construction has been completed and the system has been extensively tested. After all we want to be sure that everything is functioning properly and that trains can safely use the track. Testing is therefore the important work that is done in the last days before the button is finally used.Consequences Train trafficThe work has consequences for the train traffic of Arriva and NS. The timetable has been adjusted on a number of days and no trains are running at all on a number of days. We advise travelers to consult the travel planner of the carriers concerned well in advance of departure.
