The renovation of Almere Centrum station and the station area has been completed. The station has been given a major refresh giving the station a modern look. Passengers can stay pleasantly in the bright and spacious station hall. Passengers also enjoy art and music at the station again due to the return of the station piano and the special art column.Today NS ProRail and the municipality of Almere celebrated the reopening of the station including the unveiling of a large photo showing the entrance to Almere Centrum station. Station manager Robert Yallop is proud of the result The renovation has made the station much lighter and more spacious which is experienced by the passenger as pleasant. The station hall has been given an attractive mosaic floor and passengers can take a seat on the newly placed benches while waiting. I am pleased that we have joined forces with ProRail and the municipality of Almere to tackle the station and the station environment. The result is impressive Passengers who come to the station by bike can use two covered bicycle sheds. The modern bicycle sheds together offer space for almost 3500 bicycles. The first 24 hours the stable is free.Syrian restaurant RootsThe range of shops at Almere Centrum has been expanded. In addition to the familiar branches of Ako and Kiosk and the renewed stores of The Dner Company Travelex and Backwerk travelers can now also visit AH to Go Starbucks and the special restaurant Syrian Roots. The owner of Roots Rami Masi came to the Netherlands as a Syrian refugee and noticed how difficult it was to get a job in the Netherlands. He therefore started his own meal service. Now Rami forms a team with other status holders and will open a physical location at Almere Centrum station. The station is a special place for Rami As a refugee you arrive in the Netherlands by train. Once off the train you set foot on Dutch soil for the first time at the station. For that reason the station plays an important role for me and I am proud to open Syrian Roots in this special place. says Rami. The meals are all vegetarian or vegan and are a good reflection of Syrian cuisine.Higher rating Almere Centrum station Due to the renovation passengers rate Almere Centrum station with a higher grade. Where last year the station was rated with a 6.1 this year that figure has risen to a 7-. This makes the station the largest riser in the province of Flevoland.
