The German and Dutch army tops are discussing the further integration of both army forces in Dresden. To give direction to this development both commanders signed a joint vision. One vision for 2 army forces is unique in Europe.Integration is a verb said German army commander Lieutenant General Alfons Mais. Together we get further than alone. But daily practice teaches us that integration is not an easy task. It takes a lot of work dedication trust and friendship.Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Martin Wijnen indicated that the vision gives direction to the integration. So that we continue to develop together. The vision is action and result oriented. This is how we maintain momentum. But above all we are strengthening the capability within the land domain for both countries and together improving our ability to contribute as allies.Purchasing equipment togetherThe vision contains things that they want to develop. Such as the joint management of the integrated units. There must also be a common doctrine and tactical procedures. And the interoperability of the German and Dutch units must be further improved. The latter is the ability to practically cooperate for example by connecting and exchanging equipment. That is why the vision also states that both army forces should jointly purchase new equipment where possible.Earlier integrationA far-reaching integration of the German and Dutch army is taking place under the project name Griffin . There is cooperation within the headquarters of 1 German-Netherlands Corps . 2 Dutch combat brigades and the air defense command have now been integrated with German links. The third combat brigade of the army may also be integrated into a German division next year.During the meeting in Dresden developments for the land domain and the lessons from the war in Ukraine were also discussed.
