π Tender Overview
The ICBers in the North-East region came across two very strange birds last weekend. On Sunday 14 August just about in the heat of the day a call came in via the Spoor Control Room. A stork is said to be in distress on a service building of the Drontermeertunnel on the Hanzelijn.Cherry-pickerHans Bruggink General Manager in the North-East ICB region explained how they proceeded We went to the site with three colleagues and shortly after arrival it turned out that a stork was trapped in the tunnels air duct. Unfortunately we had to conclude that we could not take action here ourselves. That is why via the Spoor Control Room we have requested that the fire brigade come with an aerial platform to help the stork. Stork in the bagThen the story took another turn. Hans The aerial platform got a view of the air duct and saw that there were not one but two storks. With the help of our swan catch bags the fire brigade was able to get the storks down safely. Since the animal ambulance was not available we took the storks to the vet at the request of the fire brigade. There it turned out that the animals only had a few scrapes and could safely return to nature. Released in the polderThe ICBers then drove to the polder near Dronten and the storks were released there. Hans thought it was a special experience Although it is not directly a commitment for which you go to work it does make your day very enjoyable. A stork is especially up close a very beautiful bird. With an imposing beak that the animals also like to use against you.
