In the Natura 2000 area of Boetelerveld the province and partners will restore and strengthen the vulnerable nature. On January 22 2019 the Provincial Executive determined the draft of the Provincial Integration Plan PIP for the Boetelerveld. The draft PIP Boetelerveld is available for inspection from 19 February to 1 April 2019 inclusive.The PIP has been drawn up because the restoration and reinforcement measures have consequences for the destination and use of land. If the function or use of the soil changes for example by excavation waterlogging or limiting fertilization the destination or use is changed and recorded in PIP. It is therefore comparable to a zoning plan but at provincial level.Nature restorationThe remedial measures are carried out in the context of Natura 2000 and the Nitrogen Approach Program PAS. The objectives are laid down in the Natura 2000 management plan and the corresponding PAS area analysis. By realizing these nature goals there will be licensing space for economic development.The Boetelerveld has a size of approximately 170 hectares. In order to preserve the wet moors and poor grasslands measures must be taken in the area but also in the buffer zone around it. This buffer zone is approximately 120 hectares. The amount of nitrogen in the area must be reduced. High groundwater levels and a reduction in the fertilization of fertilizers are therefore important for the Boetelerveld. The measures have direct consequences for 24 private landowners.In order to arrive at a good total solution for the area in and around Boetelerveld a voluntary exchange of plots is started. This plot exchange should provide a better agricultural structure for a large area and contribute to nature and water goals. The area of plot exchange is much larger than the buffer zone. By exchanging in a larger area it is better to free up land for the measures to be taken.
