π Tender Overview
The Chromium-6 Defense Payment Scheme is balanced and sufficiently generous. The regulation is also in line with similar regulations and with liability law. This is the main conclusion of the final report of the Heerma van Voss Committee which was handed over to State Secretary Christophe van der Maat. The committee investigated the scheme the differences between the POMS locations and the other Defense locations and the possible consequences of any expansion of the scheme. In 2014 the Ministry of Defense received signals from former employees who suspected they had become ill from working with chrome paint and CARC. These included former employees of former American storage depots POMS sites. Defense then commissioned the independent research institute RIVM to conduct an investigation. On the basis of this investigation the Ministry of Defense has acknowledged that in the past its employees were not afforded enough protection when working with hazardous substances in particular chromium-6. In 2018 the then State Secretary in agreement with the trade unions created the Chromium-6 Defense Payment Scheme for the POMS locations. This arrangement will be expanded to all Defense locations in 2021. In 2021 at the request of the House of Representatives a Committee for the Chromium-6 Defense Benefit Scheme was set up.This Commission Heerma van Voss received 3 assignments. The first assignment was to compare the Benefit Scheme with the legal framework comparable schemes and the report of the Commission Facilitating Damage Settlement Occupational Diseases Heerts Commission. The Heerma van Voss committee reported on this in September 2021. The committee is now reporting on the other two assignments.
