π Tender Overview
ProRail and the Moerdijk Port Authority are starting a test in which the train is checked by a smart camera upon arrival at the Moerdijk railway yard. This is done in collaboration with the local freight operators. This was agreed on 1 July during a user meeting in Moerdijk where rail operators terminals and shippers were present.Read and compareThe smart camera is located at the entrance of the yard and reads the car numbers and the numbers with information about hazardous substances that are in some cars. This is compared with the information in the vehicle list that has been supplied by the carriers in advance. Any deviations are automatically indicated in the vehicle list after which it can be adjusted manually.Improve registrationsProRail and transporters keep track of which wagons with hazardous substances on which tracks are parked on a railway yard for 26 yards in the so-called Wagon Load Information System W-LIS. This registration is usually entered manually and based on the trains wagon list on arrival at a railway yard. The use of the smart cameras is expected to further improve the correctness of the registrations in W-LIS. In case of calamities this information is important for the adequate operation of the fire brigade and emergency servicesFrom hard to automaticThis trial will be continued after the summer. Then the vehicles with hazardous substances are followed by wireless sensors in the track upon arrival at the yard. These sensors register on which tracks the vehicles with hazardous substances are parked. If it turns out that this can be done without errors the current manual registrations can be replaced by an automated system and the correctness of the registrations can be increased even further.
