To accelerate housing construction in Brabant the government has pledged 75 million euros for the development of Fellenoord in Eindhoven. It has also been agreed that financial agreements will be made in the autumn about a package of measures A2N2 to improve the accessibility and traffic flow of the Brainport in the short term. 185 million is needed for this meaningful 1st step. These are the most important results of last Tuesdays Administrative Consultation on the Living Environment BOL between central government province and region. In addition to Fellenoord money has been reserved under certain conditions for the housing projects Spaense Scharen Bergen op Zoom Chasskwartier Breda Kenniskwartier Tilburg and East station s-Hertogenbosch. The amount of the total investment for these projects will become clear after the cities involved have taken decisions about co-financing requested by the government. At the end of 2021 the province central government the Brabant water boards and the B5 cities took the initiative to draw up a Brabant-wide urbanization strategy and to elaborate it in urbanization agreements for the urban regions of Brabant. Five development principles from the Brabant-wide urbanization strategy are important to the province in order to make the right choices for urban Brabant i.e. the entire built-up environment of cities and villages soil and water system are the basis for urbanization landscape and nature grow along with urbanization new homes strengthen existing city and village mobility transition provides tailor-made solutions for city and village and high-quality work areas are preconditions for a circular economy.Good that we are taking the next stepErik Ronnes Deputy for Spatial Planning and Housing An integrated approach is required for housing mobility and the economy and this includes preconditions such as energy transition and solving the overcrowded energy network and climate adaptation. It is good that with these agreements we can take the next step in the important preconditions for the housing task in Brabant.Because in addition to the urbanization strategy speed of realization is important. Brabant is therefore happy with the commitments and reservations for Bergen op Zoom Breda Den Bosch Tilburg and Eindhoven. The central government the province and the Eindhoven region have also drawn up the urbanization agreement for the Eindhoven Urban Area for the latter region. This contains the housing and work tasking of the region along with the preconditions for being able to carry out this urbanization task. This includes mobility energy greenery water landscape facilities and social issues. The Urbanization Agreement contains agreements to realize this integral task. A precondition for this agreement is the governments commitment to the total mobility package for the Eindhoven metropolitan region consisting of the scaling up of public transport and railUrbanization and mobility are inextricably linkedDuring the BOL the central government shared a draft decision list for nitrogen prioritization. This showed that only Wilhelmina Canal Sluis II is on the priority list. The other government infrastructure projects in Brabant such as the A58 A2 A50 and A67 are at least two years behind schedule. The province has expressed its dissatisfaction with this. These are major projects in which MIRT and SmartwayZ.NL have been discussing for years between central government province and region time and money have been invested in and administrative agreements have been made. In addition to the nitrogen problem the governments prioritization also looked at the remaining coverage task including for InnovA58 Eindhoven-Tilburg. The national government and the region have agreed to discuss coverage options for the A58 Eindhoven-Tilburg in the short term.Deputy Mobility Suzanne Otters It is a good thing that it has been agreed to definitively arrange the A2N2 package of measures this autumn. In this way we keep Brainport moving for the short term. The total mobility package is a precondition for the construction of tens of thousands of homes in Brabant because urbanization and mobility are inextricably linked. That is why during the BOL I also expressed my dissatisfaction with the putting on hold of almost all government infrastructure projects in our province. It is undoubtedly a difficult decision for the minister but nevertheless I am disappointed. Accessibility is already under heavy pressure. I asked for perspective on how the central government together with the regional authorities is maintaining accessibility in Brabant now that important government infrastructure projects are slowing down.
