π Tender Overview
The Education and Culture Commission (CE) approved this Tuesday (10) the creation of National Digital Accessibility Day, to be celebrated on March 11. Digital accessibility is the process of eliminating barriers to websites, apps, and other online content so that everyone can perceive, understand, and navigate them effectively. Assistive technology allows the inclusion of elderly people and people with disabilities or other limitations, guaranteeing access to information and digital services in an autonomous and independent way.
PL 2,251/2025, by Senator Mara Gabrilli (PSD-SP), received a favorable opinion from Senator Bruno Bonetti (PL-RJ) and will now go to the Chamber of Deputies, if there is no appeal for a vote in the Senate Plenary.
In justification, the author considers digital accessibility an indispensable condition for the full exercise of citizenship in the information society, supported by the Brazilian Inclusion Law and the Digital Government Law. It presents data that show the low compliance of Brazilian websites with accessibility standards, which reveals the distance between legislation and the reality faced by people with disabilities.
For Bonetti, the project reinforces Brazils role as a country that values the integration of its people in the information age.
-- Ensuring that no one is abandoned in the transition to digital is a matter of justice and real modernization. The approval of this date is a fundamental step towards building a future in which innovation serves as a bridge to bring people together, ensuring that technological progress goes hand in hand with solidarity and human respect -- declared the rapporteur.
