The operation of the modular structures has allowed the resumption of the passage of vehicles on the Uchumayo - Yura route in Arequipa.The Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC), through the General Directorate of Transportation Programs and Projects (DGPPT), articulated actions for the installation of two modular bridges on the Uchumayo Bypass. This allowed vehicular traffic to be restored in the important Uchumayo - Yura road corridor, benefiting thousands of citizens of Arequipa.
The work included foundation work and the construction of abutments, allowing the safe installation of the structures. These actions are part of the measures adopted by the sector to respond to the emergency in a timely manner and restore traffic in the area.
Likewise, the concessionaire carried out, under the supervision of Ositran, the load test of the bridges, which were passed. After that, vehicular traffic on the bridges was opened on March 29, 2026.
The implementation of the modular bridges responds to the articulated work between the MTC and the concessionaire Covisur, while progress is made in the development of a definitive technical solution for the Uchumayo bridge.
The MTC will continue to coordinate actions that guarantee the safety and adequate circulation of users on the national road network.
