Operating companies have until July 2026 to complete the installation in 441 locations through the coverage fee mechanism.More than 41 thousand citizens in rural areas have access to 4G mobile services for the first time, thanks to the installation of base stations in 177 locations that previously did not have coverage. This advance is part of the investment commitments assumed through the coverage fee mechanism, promoted by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC).
The implementation, corresponding to the year 2025, represents an investment of S/ 75,353,079 and is part of the sectors strategy to close the digital divide and bring connectivity to the most remote areas of the country, facilitating access to essential digital services.
The deployment has been carried out in various regions, including Huanuco and San Martin (30 locations each), Cusco (20), Huancavelica (16), Ancash (12), Cajamarca (11), Ayacucho (10), Amazonas (9), Junin (7), Piura (6), La Libertad and Arequipa (5 each), Puno and Pasco (4), Apurimac (3), Ucayali (2), as well as Loreto, Tumbes and Madre de Dios (1 location in each region).
The base stations have been installed by America Movil Peru S.A.C., Entel Peru S.A., Integratel Peru S.A.A. and Viettel Peru S.A.C., in compliance with their investment commitments in rural areas, contributing to closing the digital divide.
The MTC carries out permanent monitoring to guarantee compliance with these commitments and ensure that the infrastructure directly benefits the population. In this sense, the operating companies have until July 2026 to complete the installation in a total of 441 locations.
In this regard, the Minister of Transportation and Communications, Aldo Prieto, highlighted: It is essential that localities that have never had access to mobile services can finally have this technology. From the MTC we supervise compliance with investment commitments and we are close to knowing those corresponding to 2026.
Access to 4G mobile services in these areas improves communication, facilitates access to information, strengthens productive activities and opens new development opportunities for thousands of families that historically did not have connectivity.
In this way, the MTC reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting the deployment of telecommunications infrastructure and promoting more inclusive connectivity throughout the country.
