The construction of the terminal building annex in Podgorica and the installation and procurement of secondary radar on Mount Vrsuta are key infrastructure projects that Serbia-Montenegro Flight Control (SMATSA) plans to invest in Montenegro. This was announced after a meeting between Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs Filip Radulovic and SMATSA Assistant Director Rajko Uskokovic.
SMATSA is an extremely important factor, so we need to invest more in infrastructure. The data regarding the overflight through the airspace of Montenegro are encouraging, as well as landing and take-off operations at Montenegrin airports, Radulovic said.
Assistant Director of SMATSA Rajko Uskokovi? informed Minister Radulovic about the results achieved in the first quarter of this year when it comes to overflights over the airspace of Montenegro.
The number of IFR operations over the airspace of Montenegro for the first quarter of this year is 110,440, which is almost seven and a half thousand more than in the same period last year or 30,991 more than in 2019, Uskokovic said.
Statistics show that the number of take-offs from Podgorica airport in the first quarter of this year is 13.38% higher compared to the same period last year, while the number of take-offs from Tivat airport compared to last year is 20.70%.
During the meeting, representatives of SMATSA emphasized successful cooperation with other aviation entities such as the Civil Aviation Agency, The Airport of Montenegro and the national airline ToMontenegro.
