π Tender Overview
The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) opened, this Friday (9/1), a public consultation to receive contributions from society, the productive sector, academia and other interested parties on the updated draft of the National Mining Plan 2050 (PNM 2050). The process will be open for 30 days, with the deadline for sending contributions until February 8th.
The initiative aims to improve the main long-term planning instrument of the Brazilian Mineral Policy, which guides the sustainable development of the mineral sector from 2025 to 2050, considering economic, social, environmental and governance aspects.
The new version of the document consolidates a prospective and integrated vision for Brazilian mining, incorporating institutional, technological and regulatory advances, in addition to aligning the sector with global demands related to energy transition, food security and good socio-environmental practices. The Plan is structured around three strategic pillars -- sustainability and social value; responsible use of mineral resources; and strategic governance -- and organizes challenges and guidelines into nine cross-cutting themes, such as strategic minerals, innovation, value addition and institutional integrity.
The opening of the public consultation takes place after a process of reviewing and updating the document originally prepared in 2022, incorporating the guidelines of the National Council for Mineral Policy (CNPM) and reinforcing the results orientation, with the definition of long-term strategic objectives. The contributions received will be technically analyzed and may support the improvement of the final version of the Plan, strengthening its institutional legitimacy and social participation in the planning of the Brazilian mineral sector.
Contributions must be sent via the MME Public Consultations Portal.
