📋 Tender Overview
Another 767,000 homes across the country will have high -speed internet with the expansion of fixed broadband cover. The Network Expansion Project, executed by the Ministry of Communications in partnership with BNDES, will bring connectivity to 552 municipalities of 17 Brazilian states, boosting essential services, education, business and development opportunities.
With an investment of R 1.4 billion, funds from the Telecommunications Services Universalization Fund (FUST), the initiative is a decisive step in reducing digital exclusion in Brazil.
President Lula has given us the mission of universalizing internet access and basic services facilitated by the digital world. We still have unassisted places and we are working on this project to improve the infrastructure and reach our digital inclusion goal of all Brazilians, said Frederico de Siqueira Filho.
MCOM transfers to BNDES correspond to the 2023-2025 triennium and will allow improvements in fixed broadband coverage in 767 thousand homes, distributed in 552 municipalities of 17 states. The operations of the Network Expansion Project aim to strengthen connectivity in regions facing precarious access. Investments will be applied to three fronts: expansion of the fiber optic network, access networks in cities and 4G and 5G technologies.
The digital inclusion agenda is a priority in the government of President Lula. The expansion of the fiber optic network is essential for economic development to reach communities, schools, business and peripheries, as well as ensuring the offer of quality public services, such as health, said BNDES President Aloizio Mercadante.
