Mining Exploration Portfolio Tender

πŸ“„ Tender ID: 531164900 πŸ“… Published: 03 Apr 2026

πŸ“‹ Tender Overview

o Up to 32 new investment initiatives are incorporated, which had already been identified in 2025 as potential additions for this year. The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), through the General Directorate of Mining Promotion and Sustainability (DGPSM), presented the new Portfolio of Mining Exploration Projects 2026, a document that reflects the broad potential that Peru has and the progress made to enable new investments in the mining sector.

The Portfolio is made up of 69 projects that concentrate a joint investment of US$ 757 million, and its main objective is to promote the exploration of new exploitation areas with development potential, as well as contribute to the extension of the useful life of existing mining units.

Compared to August 2025, the Portfolios global investment presents an increase of US$ 29.5 million, equivalent to a variation of +4.1%, due to the incorporation of 32 new projects in 2026, and the investment adjustment in the Antapata project.

These 32 new investment initiatives in mining exploration, together, represent an estimated investment of US$ 287.5 million, and highlight the Sombrero (US$ 106.2 million), Trapiche (US$ 36.8 million), Elida (US$ 15.0 million), Colquemayo (US$ 13.5 million) and Iluminadora (US$ 12.4 million) projects.

Additionally, 30 projects ceased to be part of the Portfolio because they satisfactorily completed the process of obtaining the permits and authorizations required for the initiation of exploration activities, advancing to the subsequent stage of this process.

It is important to specify that this exit does not constitute a reduction in exploratory activity, but rather the transition to the exploration execution phase. And given that this Portfolio considers projects in the processing and evaluation stage, those initiatives that already have all the required permits are removed from the list.

The MINEM reaffirms that Peru offers highly favorable conditions for the development of exploration projects, thanks to its vast geological potential. It should be noted that 0.3% of the national territory is destined for exploration activities, which shows ample opportunities not yet developed.

Likewise, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), Peru stands out for having the largest silver reserves in the world and holds leading positions, at the Latin American level, in reserves of copper, gold, zinc, silver, lead, tin and molybdenum.
The governing body of the mining-energy sector pointed out that mining promotes the revitalization of local economies through the generation of direct and indirect employment; and that mining exploration, carried out under criteria of social and environmental responsibility, is relevant to ensure the sustainability of mining activity in the long term.
