📋 Tender Overview
o Expansions of the Sunny and Intipampa solar plants required a joint investment of US$ 112.7 million and strengthen the countrys energy securityThe Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) highlighted the beginning of the commercial operation stage of the Intipampa Expansion (Moquegua) and Sunny Expansion (Arequipa) solar plants, which together incorporate 156.7 megawatts (MW) of additional electricity generation capacity of renewable origin to the National Interconnected Electric System (SEIN).
These projects, developed by the companies Engie Energia Peru and Kallpa Generacion, consolidate the transition towards a more sustainable and diversified energy matrix, and will allow the countrys energy supply to be expanded through the use of renewable resources, especially strengthening the electricity supply in the southern part of the country.
The Intipampa Expansion Solar Power Plant added 51.7 MW of installed capacity to the SEIN, while the Sunny Expansion Solar Power Plant added an additional 105 MW, consolidating itself as one of the most important photovoltaic projects recently put into operation in Peru.
With the implementation of these expansions, our country increases its electricity generation capacity from renewable sources, reinforcing the reliability of the electrical system and contributing to the supply of energy for homes, businesses and industries.
In this regard, the Vice Minister of Electricity of the MINEM, Luis Santillan, highlighted that the entry into commercial operation of these projects reflects the confidence of the private sector in the countrys energy development and contributes to strengthening the security of the national electricity supply.
The incorporation of 156.7 MW of solar generation to the SEIN constitutes an important advance to continue diversifying our energy matrix with renewable sources. These investments allow us to strengthen the reliability of the system, meet the growth of electricity demand and consolidate Perus commitment to a sustainable energy transition, he noted.
The MINEM highlights that these investments ratify the confidence of the business sector in the country and reflect the joint commitment between the State and private companies to promote the development of modern, efficient energy infrastructure aligned with the sustainability and energy security objectives of Peru.
