📋 Tender Overview
o A new stage of dynamism is marked for the sector, with relevant impacts on production, employment, productive chains and tax collection. This 2026 will be a key year to consolidate the recovery of mining investment and strengthen Perus role as a strategic supplier of minerals globally, announced the Vice Minister of Mines of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, Carlos Talavera Flores, within the framework of a presentation given at the College of Engineers of Peru (CIP).
This year, eight mining projects are scheduled to begin execution, representing an approximate investment of US$ 7,619 million, which marks a new stage of dynamism for the sector, with relevant impacts on production, employment, productive chains and tax collection, Talavera stressed.
These are the mining projects, Colquijirca Replenishment and Huaron Expansion, in Pasco; Replacement of San Rafael and Corani, in Puno: Zafranal, Optimization of Cerro Verde and Pampa de Pongo, in Arequipa, and Huancapeti Expansion in Ancash.
Vice Minister Talavera highlighted that this is a mature portfolio, made up of projects that have already passed critical stages of the investment cycle and that are in advanced feasibility and detailed engineering phases.
This reduces the levels of uncertainty and makes it possible to more clearly project their entry into execution, he remarked, highlighting that these projects are located in various regions of the country, which reaffirms the decentralized nature of mining and its capacity to promote territorial development.
For the State, this scenario implies the challenge of technically accompanying these processes, ensuring regulatory predictability and promoting responsible and sustainable execution, said Talavera.
He concluded by highlighting that Peru today has exceptional conditions to continue leading the production of strategic minerals, attract new investments and consolidate itself as an indispensable player in the global energy transition.
