📋 Tender Overview

Vice Minister of Tourism participated in a technical table that allowed authorities, ecclesiastical and business representatives to coordinate actions in favor of the development and strengthening of the route. The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) highlighted the coordination between the public and private sectors for the development of the Leon Route in Piura, during a recent session of the technical table to strengthen the route in the region.

The meeting brought together authorities from the three levels of government, as well as ecclesiastical and business representatives, who reported on the progress on the route and coordinated strategic actions to improve the visitor experience.

The progress presented today demonstrates a sustained effort that began since May 2025, which was strengthened with the installation of this technical table, the development of a consensual work plan and technical support aimed at strengthening the tourist experience, said the Vice Minister of Tourism, Aracelly Laca.

The Mincetur official also highlighted the donations from the companies CIVA and Caja Piura, which total approximately S/200,000, intended to improve the infrastructure of the Sagrada Familia de Chulucanas Cathedral Parish and the San Jose Obrero Parish.

These actions demonstrate that public-private coordination is fundamental for the development of tourism, stated Laca, and then reaffirmed the commitment of his sector to continue with these works aimed at the recovery and improvement of tourist resources linked to the pastoral mission of Robert Francis Prevost, current Supreme Pontiff, a nationalized Peruvian.

The Leon Route in Piura not only represents a tourist route, but an opportunity to value our identity, strengthen cultural heritage and generate economic development for local communities, he explained.

The technical table was attended by the regional manager of Piura, Arturo Cordova Correa; the provincial mayor of Morropon - Chulucanas, Richard Hernan Baca; of the Diocese of Chulucanas, Deacon Marlon Vicente, among others.

As part of her agenda in Piura, Vice Minister Aracelly Laca also met with representatives of the Piuran Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (APAVIT Piura).

THE LEON ROUTE IN PIURA
In Piura, the tourist route is made up of six thematic resources and two complementary ones. In the first group are the San Jose Obrero Parish, the Sagrada Familia Cathedral Parish of Chulucanas, the headquarters of the Bishopric of Chulucanas, the Sagrada Familia Pastoral Center, the Santo Domingo Mother Church and the Villa La Buena Nueva Training Center. As complementary resources are the La Encantada Artisan Village and the Pampa - Yapatera Village of Cruz.

Currently, the development of the interpretive script for La Ruta de Leon in the Piura region is being coordinated in an articulated manner.

The Leon Route is promoted jointly by Mincetur, regional and local governments, the Catholic Church and the private sector, in Lambayeque, Piura, La Libertad and Callao, regions linked to Pope Leo XIV.

This route allows visitors to visit places linked to the pastoral, social and spiritual work of the Supreme Pontiff, in addition to promoting religious tourism in Peru.
