From the incidents recorded during the last few hours in Nuevo Laredo Tamaulipas particularly against the United States Consulate in that city the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been in direct and constant communication with the diplomatic representatives of the United States in our country. . The foregoing by virtue of the implications and possible affectations for the personnel that work there.In this sense the Government of Mexico takes immediate measures in order to provide security to said consular representation. Consequently it has been agreed to temporarily close the United States Consulate to the public as well as specific operations to protect the property and the diplomatic and consular personnel that work there.The Government of Mexico reiterates its commitment to security cooperation with the United States under the new Bicentennial Understanding. From a vision of shared responsibility and within the framework of the incidents recorded in Tamaulipas the governments of Mexico and the United States will further strengthen cooperation in security matters in order to end impunity and bring to justice those involved in attacks. Transnational crime organizations will face the weight of the law of both countries.
