Within the framework of the issuance of the new Mexican electronic passport the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that today the key generation ceremony was carried out by the countrys signature certifying authority for the Electronic Keys infrastructure. This act constitutes an essential element for the issuance of electronic passports since these can be validated by the receiving countries by means of the so-called electronic keys when they transit through their countries.It should be noted that each electronic passport contains an integrated chip in which the photograph and personal information of the holder are stored included in the personal data page of the same. The electronic passport uses the electronic key infrastructure technology that prevents the information stored in the chip from being altered and at the same time validates that it has been issued by our country thus avoiding the falsification of the document.Likewise the chip that contains the electronic passport stores a country-specific digital security element known as a digital signature which is unique to each passport.This has been possible thanks to the participation and coordination of the Administration and Finance Unit the general directorates of Passport Offices Real Estate and Material Resources as well as Consular Services and Information Technology and Innovation of the Ministry of Foreign Relations.It is important to point out to the user public that by obtaining their electronic passport under the aforementioned measures the border authorities will be able to be certain that it is an authentic document issued and signed by the Government of Mexico.With the actions carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today the standards issued by the International Civil Aviation Organization ICAO regarding the exchange of information on electronic keys are being complied with.The Ministry of Foreign Relations reiterates its broad willingness to offer the best service to citizens in accordance with international provisions and national regulations regarding electronic passports.
