The Secretary of Foreign Affairs Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon accompanied by the governor of Quintana Roo Mara Lezama Espinosa inaugurated the new Passport Office in Cancun located in the Kukulcn Plaza Shopping Center being the 15th in the entire national territory under the concept turnkey with a total investment of the private initiative of 22 million pesos. The Passport Office will operate from Monday to Sunday from 800 a.m. to 2000 p.m. and will have a capacity of up to 600 daily appointments that will mean an average of 214800 appointments per year. To achieve this goal the capacity of the workstations was increased from two to three registers for biometrics being able to reach up to five due to the installed infrastructure.During his speech Foreign Minister Ebrard pointed out that these offices are designed in congruence with the vision we have of Mexico they are better than those of any country in the world ... because Mexico is number one and thats how we are we must be number one ... its the goal.He stressed that the new offices are inclusive because the Fourth Transformation is inclusive no one can be outside the forecasts that we must have in each office. For her part the governor of Quintana Roo Mara Lezama thanked the efforts of Secretary Ebrard that sensitivity of always listening of attending ... always translating into reality what one goes and manages with him. He stressed that the new offices are in harmony with this new reality that we are living with the seeds that we want to sow and harvest from a humanist progressive government with a profound transformation. The Passport Office in Quintana Roo was established in June 2000 and for 14 years occupied the building that was recently closed due to the change of headquarters since the previous one was considered insufficient to cover the demand for passport issuance services. Hence the Mexican Foreign Ministry sought solutions that allow timely and quality attention to service applicants. The new property means for the federal government a monthly saving in rent of 42569 pesos amounting annually to 510828 pesos in addition to the better conditions of the place itself since the surface goes from 384 square meters to 835 which constitutes an increase of 451 meters without the disbursement of public resources. With this new Passport Office in the hotel zone of Cancun will contribute to reduce demand in the south of the country thus avoiding transfers of Quintana Roo residents to process their passport. To achieve this dynamic in public service the Ministry of Foreign Affairs signed an agreement with the Government of Quintana Roo that will expand the staff that serves the Office to provide a better service. The building of the Passport Office has an extensive area of waiting rooms where the childrens play areas and the lactation room stand out. The inclusion of the lactation room reinforces the conditions established in the Mexican Standard NMX-R-025-SCFI-2015 on Labor Equality and Non-Discrimination ratified in January 2023 by the SRE obtaining the gold level certificate which is the highest degree achieved. The new Office is inclusive because it has a tactile guide for visually impaired people and special windows with adequate measures for both the beginning of the process and for the delivery of the passport.Likewise the space for the attention to the general public has modern and illuminated windows which are protected with glass for greater security of applicants and public servants. Likewise it has screens to receive important information regarding the passport process and the programs and services of the SRE.Appointments for the passport process in the new Office may be scheduled through the internet portal at the following electronic address httpscitas.sre.gob.mx this being the only electronic site authorized for this purpose which is completely free. Similarly appointments can be scheduled through the Contact Center available at the telephone number 55 8932 4827 from Monday to Sunday from 800 a.m. to 2000 p.m. also free service. The importance of avoiding fraud and not making payments or deposits to personal accounts or convenience stores to obtain a passport processing appointment is reiterated. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates its broad willingness to offer the best service to citizens and welcomes the opening of its new Office in the state of Quintana Roo within the framework of the provisions of the National Development Plan of President Andrs Manuel Lpez Obrador and in compliance with the instructions of Secretary Marcelo Ebrard in favor of the new vision of development of the south of the country.
