For this purpose, the mayor held a meeting with leaders and residents of the Piura, Ficus and Las Malvinas urbanizations, where he directly reported on the progress of the drinking water and sewage project that will benefit more than 8,500 residents.
During the meeting, Cevallos explained that the current management has decided to prioritize the completion of works in progress before starting new projects, guaranteeing responsible management of public resources.
Now we can no longer launch a new project because it would be irresponsible, because we have projects in progress that still require a budget. I prefer to be transparent with the population, said the mayor.
Likewise, he reported that two months ago he held meetings with the Ministers of Housing and Economy to present five strategic projects in the province that require a transfer of S/ 42 million. He indicated that there is a favorable expectation that the next supplementary credit, whose approval is expected in the next two weeks, will include the financing of the project for the Piura, Ficus and Las Malvinas urbanizations.
The mayor also highlighted that the Provincial Municipality of Piura has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Housing and has been complying with all the technical, documentary and administrative procedures necessary to ensure resources for the projects. We are not going to sit idly by and we are demanding what is appropriate for Piura, he emphasized.
It should be noted that the project requires an investment of more than S/ 19.2 million and contemplates the installation of more than 13 kilometers of new drinking water networks, in addition to the execution of 1,616 home connections that will significantly improve access to the service.
In the sanitation component, the work includes the renovation of 11.5 kilometers of sewage networks using modern technology and the construction of 206 mailboxes, which will eliminate the constant overflows of sewage that affect families and represent a risk to public health.
With these actions, the Provincial Municipality of Piura reaffirms its commitment to transparent, responsible management aimed at obtaining the necessary financing to carry out works that improve the quality of life of thousands of Piurans.
