📋 Tender Overview
BOAC, Marinduque (PIA) -- Marinduque students supported by the Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) have expressed deep gratitude for the undergraduate scholarship program. The program provides scholars with numerous privileges, including a monthly stipend of P8,000, tuition support of P40,000 per year for private institutions, P10,000 annually for learning materials or connectivity, and additional allowances for clothing, thesis, graduation, health insurance, and travel expenses for out-of-province studies. John David B. Dumaran, a Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Science graduate with academic distinction, shared how the scholarship helped him overcome challenges as a student-teacher. Kung hindi dahil sa DOST, siguro, nahirapan ako nong ako ay nag-intern as a teacher. Nakabili ako ng laptop at for the first time, nagkaroon ng sarili kong cellphone na nakatulong sa akin nang malaki to teach my former students and former mentors on how to utilize technology in learning. I am forever grateful for how DOST helped me to continue, to learn, and to grow as a future educator, Dumaran said. He added that being a DOST scholar is more than financial aid; it has shaped him as an educator through seminars and mentoring roles, which he finds fulfilling as he shares his learning with future scholars. Computer Engineering graduate Ken Rhemon M. Mirones recalled how the scholarship enabled him to purchase a laptop essential for his studies and thesis prototype development. For me, the most memorable moment as a scholar was when I was finally able to buy my own laptop. It helped me a lot, especially since Im enrolled in a Computer Engineering course, Mirones said. Meanwhile, Electronic Engineering graduate Keenan Carlo M. Penaredonda cited how he was able to graduate because of the scholarship, saying, Becoming a scholar during my 3rd and 4th year really helped lighten my load, especially during thesis season and other academic expenses. Ace Francis J. Monteagudo, also a BS Computer Engineering graduate, said the scholarship provided not only financial support but also opportunities to connect with great minds through various organized events. It greatly assists in school responsibilities and also gives extra funds for myself, pero the greatest gift this scholarship might actually give is the opportunity to get to know many great minds and other people through many events. A lot of things can be learned in their organized events and can act as additional leverage in my portfolio, Monteagudo said. Recently, three DOST scholars from Marinduque successfully passed licensure examinations: Kate M. Ganibo and Joshua N. Plateros passed the November 2025 Civil Engineers Licensure Examination, and Kim Josh D. Milambiling ranked third in the October 2025 Electronics Technician Licensure Examination. Meanwhile, the DOST-SEI scholarship program continues to open doors for students, helping develop the future scientists, engineers, and educators. (JRR/AS/JBG/PIA MIMAROPA-Marinduque)
