πŸ“‹ Tender Overview

The Archdiocese of Malta handed over a property to the Foundation for Affordable Accommodation in order for the first affordable housing project to take place. This property which used to be the St Margaret M. Alacoque Convent is located in the village of Kirkop. The Minister for Social and Affordable Accommodation Roderick Galdes together with the Board of this Foundation visited this property that in the coming years extensive work will be done in order to carry out this first project of affordable housing. The minister reiterated that This union in the form of a foundation with a social goal that we built together as State and Archdiocese is an important legacy that will remain behind us and that will continue to provide housing solutions to those who really needs. For his part the Chairperson of the Stefan Cutajar Foundation said that This building means an important starting point for the foundation which has been discussing and planning sensitive ways of developing houses that will be rented with affordable rates for a medium range of people who neither qualify for social housing but at the same time are not being reached by the free property market. The rehabilitation of this house in the heart of a quiet village like al-Kirkop is testimony to how the intervention of both the public and the private in this delicate area can be done with a sensitive way that respects the cultural and architectural heritage of our country.
