YB Mrs. Isnaraissah Munirah binti Majilis Deputy Minister of Energy Science Technology Environment and Climate Change launched the ROSE Foundation and ROSE Laboratory. The ROSE Foundation and the ROSE Laboratory combine science technology and design principles in delivering innovative proven cervical screening solutions through scientific research.ROSE is an acronym from Removing Obstacles to cervical ScrEening. The ROSE Foundation and Lab is a joint venture between the University of Malaya and the VCS Foundation in Australia. The VCS Foundation has co-ordinated the use of technology and high standards in the ROSE Lab in accordance with the Australian National Cervical Screening Program.During the launch YB Mrs Isnaraissah said she was impressed with the scientific development of Human Papillomavirus HPV which is a leading cause of cervical cancer while increasing the chances of preventing the disease through comprehensive efforts including vaccination screening tests and treatment.This is because Cervical Cancer is one of the biggest threats to death among women and is the third most frequently encountered cancer among women in Malaysia. Every life is precious so the services offered by the ROSE Foundation and Laboratory will help prevent the disease from happening.In 2018 the World Health Organization WHO made a global announcement that action should be taken in preventing Cervical Cancer altogether. To achieve this goal innovative prevention strategies and technologies are needed.The ROSE Program is one of the key initiatives in Malaysias quest to achieve this global goal. In addition with the launch of the ROSE Foundation and Laboratory Malaysia is in line with other countries that have adopted and adopted more effective HPV testing for cervical screening at the primary healthcare level.
