The number of available resident job seekers registered with ADEM stands at 17,901 as of July 31, 2024, an increase of 1,790 people (or 11.1%) compared to July 2023.
This number of job seekers is increasing for all periods of vacancy.
The most qualified job seekers (higher education graduates) and people aged 30 to 44 are experiencing the most significant increases.
In terms of occupations, the most significant upward variations concern the construction (ROME category F), installation and maintenance (category I), transport and logistics (category N), industry (category H), accounting (M12) and IT (M18) and banking (C12) occupations.
The unemployment rate, adjusted for seasonal variations, calculated by STATEC, stands at 5.8 %.
The number of new registrations of job seekers remains stable. Indeed, 2,556 residents registered with ADEM during the month of July 2024, an increase of 7 people or 0.3% compared to July 2023. Note that the new registrations this month include 81 registrations of beneficiaries of temporary protection (refugees from Ukraine).
The number of resident job seekers receiving full unemployment benefit increased by 1,733 people or 20.4% over one year, to reach 10,248 as of July 31. The number of beneficiaries of a measure in favor of employment stands at 4,325, an increase of 6.2% compared to July 2023.
During the month of July 2024, employers declared 3,470 vacant positions to ADEM, an increase of 5.5% compared to July 2023.
The total number of positions available at the end of the month stood at 7,539 on July 31. The decline over one year is 20.8%. This decline mainly impacts the accounting and management professions (ROME category M12), IT (category M18), the financial and real estate sector (category C), finishing trades (category F16), legal professions (category K19), road transport driving personnel professions (N41) and warehousing, handling and moving professions (category N11).
