📋 Tender Overview
Rokiškis district municipality contributes to the country's goals in the field of renewable energy sources (RES) and carries out its development – in the territory of the municipality, electricity is produced from solar, wind and hydroelectric power plants, and the share of RES in final energy consumption exceeds the Lithuanian average – reaches 66.76 per cent.
According to the data of the Lithuanian Energy Agency in 2021, the power of consumer equipment producing electricity per 1000 inhabitants in Rokiškis district municipality amounted to 58.13 kW and, compared to 2020, increased by more than 40 per cent.
In the territory of Rokiškis district municipality, electricity from RES is produced in solar light, wind power plants and hydroelectric power plants. According to the data of the State Energy Regulatory Council in 2023, 40 permits were issued in Rokiškis district to produce electricity in solar light power plants with a total capacity of 0.99 MW. Installed solar power plants produce about 925.65 MWh (79.61 tne) of electricity per year.
In Rokiškis district, electricity is also produced in two wind power plants with a total capacity of 0.58 MW. They generate about 1,450.00 MWh (124.7 tne) of electricity per year. There is also one hydroelectric power station with an installed capacity of 0.02 MW on the territory of the municipality, which produces 48.00 MWh (4.13 tne) of electricity per year.
In Rokiškis district municipality, 208.44 tne of electricity is produced from RES (59.82 per cent is produced in wind power plants), but part of this energy is produced in remote parks, therefore it is not necessarily consumed in Rokiškis district municipality.
It is estimated that the share of RES in the total final energy consumption in Rokiškis district municipality is 66.76 per cent and exceeds the share of Lithuanian RES in the final energy consumption balance (in 2021 it reached 27.36 per cent). In the municipality, the use of biofuels, which among the types of RES accounts for 89.29%, and in total energy consumption 33.96% has a significant impact on the use of RES. Looking at the share of renewable resources by sector, in the transport sector the RES indicator reached 6.03 per cent, in the agricultural sector – 28.31 per cent, in the industrial sector – 77.10 per cent, in households – 69.97 per cent, in the service sector – 59.41 per cent.
One of the potential for increasing the share of AIE in Rokiškis district municipality is the renewable energy used by DH. The aim of this improvement is to modernise the municipality's DH systems so that they are effective and contain zero or near-zero emissions, which would contribute to reducing climate change. One of the possibilities for the modernization of DH of Rokiškis district municipality is solar energy.
In increasing the use of RES, municipalities undoubtedly play a significant role in the implementation process. The Law on Renewable Energy provides that municipalities prepare, approve and implement action plans for the development of the use of energy from renewable sources.
